Cinco de Mayo
Charlie Wild stands in front of another year's prolific artistic output, as he readies his newest framed pieces for the upcoming “Cinco de Mayo.” What you see here shows only a small portion of a very large body of paintings that have been in the works since last fall.
This year marks a leap ahead in Charlie's painting style, as these newest paintings -- which still show his signature line style -- are dramatically different, in that his mixed media integrations capture a magical quality that pulls you into the content almost instantly.
While Charlie says "With the Cinco deadline nearing, I've been working so fast I can hardly keep up," an unintended consequence of this race-with-the-clock may very well be the creation of his best set of paintings yet. With diverse subjects, such as a friendly street seller with her wares, and riders on horseback fully shadowed by a brilliant sunset on the beach, Charlie has created the "most real" non-realities.
As always, this year's BECA sponsored charity event, "Cinco de Mayo," will be held in Charlie Wild's house at 160 Junipero Serra.
